Eamon is first and foremost a communicator. He has employed many media, and techniques in his efforts to provoke, inspire and engage others in contemplation and debate. Through these dialogues he hopes to stimulate himself, and others, into exploring the many complex, compelling and often contradictory facets of human existence. Eamon has lived in three countries, four provinces and travelled extensively around the world. His experiences, education and emotions impact his expressions on our life experience.
“By expressing the ethereal emotions in a concrete fashion I try and capture the essence of what it means to be alive - to know you are alive and what it means if you start exploring that existence.”
Eamon has been sculpting for more than 30 years. He uses it as one means of ‘capturing’ his abstract ideas and impressions to examine, explore and express them for consideration and contemplation. He works primarily in clay and wax - casting into bronze, but also carves in marble, soapstone and sandstone. Eamon’s work can be found in collections across Canada, the United Sates and in Europe.
Educated as a physical anthropologist, Eamon has been a writer, journalist, producer, cameraman and video-tape editor for over twenty years. Eamon also expresses himself through poetry, pastel drawings and paintings. He is a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada, and Past-President of the National Capital Network of Sculptors. He has participated in over 30 exhibitions.
Eamon’s studio is in Ottawa where he lives with his spouse, their two growing masterpieces and one Golden Retriever.http://www.nationalpost.com/related/topics/story.html?id=2298877
